Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave, but don't leave me
Look around, choose your own ground

Too many broken hearts have fallen in the river
Too many lonely souls have drifted out to sea
You lay your bets and then you pay the price
The things we do for love, the things we do for love

I'm not in love, so don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I’m not in love, no, no
It’s because..

This is the beautiful Grace, being 100% moody; however the photograph sets a mood by focusing the light on her hair and face, setting the scene artificially dark and moody. Photography, like all art, is about creating illusions that the brain will embrace. Human-based photography, including street photography, is about story telling, using artistic devices.
I've tried myriad other themes here, none of which have worked. When I went full #StreetPhotography, tons of people joined in, almost none of whom posted street photography. Others just died a death.
I hope people join in, to see if we can start saving human-based photography. #HumansoftheWeek
A photographer in San Francisco's Financial District seeks intimate photographs of people by using a lens that requires his being nowhere near them. Meanwhile, the old street shooter taking this photo walks up to them with a little Fuji and takes two photos, unnoticed. Human-based photography is meant to document who we were and how we lived. It is about intimacy and storytelling. And it is dying.
My primary #arts don't play well here. I am a novelist and a #streetphotographer who does other stuff.
As such, I'm going to try a theme-based approach, #HumansoftheWeek. Starting now thru Friday 6 March, the themes are #Shadows or #Moody.
I shoot candid, but posed photos are welcome too.
Me, 30 pounds and 14 years ago. Fortunately, I have gotten younger since, other than a whitening of my hair and beard. I hate this photo of myself, but I value it, because it captures who I was the year before I met the love of my life. I was here, in the dark, waiting for I did not know what. But I found it, and I have the photo to show how much of a change my life enjoyed.
I have observed that people watchers are often, oddly, not "people people." As such, many of those of us who photograph humans don't interact.
As someone who primarily shoots Candid Street photography, it makes it tough to find people to interact with artistically.
