We get a behaviour combo here: a feeding lunge on the right and a spyhop on the left! The two humpbacks were interacting with each other as they fed!

A humpback whale lunge-feeds on its right side, expanded throat pleats visible on the left, and upper jaw on the right. There was so much krill at the surface that the water looked alive!

Humpback flukes can reach up to 5.5 metres (18 ft.) wide from tip to tip, and we’re pretty sure that this whale, nicknamed Mesa (BCX2100), is near or at that maximum. Mesa is HUGE!
