Like many of you, we have watched in horror as the newly re-elected President wasted no time using his office to attack our community. Through a firehose of executive orders, he has bypassed Congress to inflict pain upon our community, and he’s just getting started. From moving trans women into men’s prisons, to banning trans people from serving in the military, to barring schools from respecting students’ names and pronouns, these are not just policy choices - they are attempts to erase our existence and deny us our humanity. These targeted orders will result in the deaths of many of our kin. And it isn’t just LGBTQ+ Americans who are in this administration’s sights. By barring federal funds from being used to pay for abortions, he is targeting women. By eliminating federal DEI programs, he is targeting people of color. By trying to tear up collective bargaining agreements and firing the Acting Chair of the NLRB and its General Counsel, he is attacking workers. As a union, we are committed to fighting for a world where all individuals are respected, represented and celebrated. To our fellow LGBTQ+ members, we want you to know that we see you, we hear you, and we will continue to advocate for your rights with unwavering dedication. We call on all of our sisters, brothers and kin to lock arms with us and join in this fight. We are stronger together. In solidarity and pride, The IATSE Pride Committee
What better way to kick off a Bluesky account than with our statement on the recent executive orders targeting our community? ✊🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
