Having just survived #IAVCEI2025 in Geneva with 35degs, in a literal greenhouse, in a building that was fitted with aircon, but they "weren't allowed" to turn it on. Yes. THIS.
I did it ✨ First talk at #IAVCEI2025 scary at first, but a beautiful and unforgettable experience.
Grateful for all the people I met. Thanks for the kindness, knowledge, laughs, and support. Grateful for the science, for the connection and for the inspiration 🌋🇦🇶

Conference poster titled “Paired zircon and allanite dating of late Pleistocene-Holocene Rhyolites in the Mono Basin, Eastern California, USA”. The poster displays a geologic map, a backscattered electron image of allanite, fayalite, and magnetite grains, a whole-rock geochemical plot, U/Th isochrons, and an age summary plot showing how our method greatly increased precision compared to previous methods.
I couldn’t come in person to present my #IAVCEI2025 poster, so here it is for you all to enjoy!

There was fantastic US science on display at #IAVCEI2025 as well, even though too many federal scientists had to stay home. My take-away was inspiration at what we can accomplish when we work together. New collaborations between US/international scientists were kindled. CERN as an exemplar.
