To complement Paris’s emission inventories, #ICOSCities researchers from LSCE deployed a dense network of greenhouse gas concentration and flux sensors at varying heights across central Paris, creating the largest and longest deployment of CO₂ sensors over any city.

As part of the #ICOSCities project, Zurich now has 60 atmospheric sensors measuring real-time CO₂ levels across the city. For the first time, authorities can compare live atmospheric data with the traditional emissions inventory.

🔎 While the data validates Paris’s emission reductions, further efforts are needed to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. #ICOSCities researchers say the current plan can meet 2030 targets, but falls short of the 2050 #netzero goal.

For the first time, independent monitoring data from #ICOSCities confirms that GHG emissions in Paris have decreased by 25% in the last decade, aligning almost perfectly with the 26% CO₂ reduction reported by Airparif (2015–2022).
