Today, May 17, is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.

We’re proud to stand with the LGBTQIA+ community (and our friends at @proudowlsoma.bsky.social), and to stand against the hatred that they so often face.

On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia 2025, it’s worth noting that in 2015 the UK was THE safest place for LGBTQ+ people to live in Europe; over ten years, the UK has slipped to joint forty-sixth place! As ever, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. #idahobit25

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Along with bringing awareness to the stigma and violence queer people still face around the world, this day also commemorates 35 years since WHO removed homosexuality as a mental illness. #IDAHOBIT25

SHOUT IT! is based in the UK, where transphobia has been running regretfully more rampant in recent years.

This IDAHOBIT, I think it’s important that we remember this:

Violence against one of us is violence against all of us.

To uplift the queer community, you need to fight for the people that are being attacked, even if you’re not “one of them”. That’s what community means.

The erosion of trans rights is another step on a dangerous path that ends at facism.

If left unchallenged, it will lead to the erosion of queer rights, women’s rights, intersex safety & racial equality, at the very least.

If you want a better world, you need to want it for everyone.

Happy IDAHOBIT.

#IDAHOBIT25 centres around the power of community. It's something we've seen plenty of recently, in response to attempts to further strip back LGBTQIA+ rights in the UK and across the globe.

We wish we didn't have to fight for this, but it's always incredible to see the strength of our community.

Creating space for belonging in Poland We have come a long way since the police raid on the Stonewall Inn Pub in New York, on 28 June 1969 - marking the first time LGBTQIA+ people fought back against discrimination, but we still have a long way to go to ensure equal rights for all. ✊ Nowhere in #Europe is this more evident than #Poland, with the country ranked last in the #EU for LGBTQIA+ rights by @ILGA-Europe for the 5th time in 2024. The #EEANorwayGrants Active Citizens Fund have this funding period supported over 2800 civil society projects empowering those who stand up for democracy, human rights and our liberties. Two of these are the Rainbow family Areas and Equality March-projects in Poland. Common for both, is a mission of creating community and being recognised by the public and state for who you are. 📹 Watch the video to learn more about the stories of the two mothers Karolina and Dorota, project specialist Ewelina, and LGBTQIA+ rights activist Artur.
