Quantitation of mitral regurgitation using positron emission tomography - EJNMMI Research Background Cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) offers non-invasive assessment of perfusion and left ventricular (LV) function from a single dynamic scan. However, no prior assessment of mitral ...

Last year, for the first time, our group presented a method on how to quantify mitral regurgitation using cardiac-PET. Article: ejnmmires.springeropen.com/articles/10.... #ISRVT25 #CardiacPET#MitralRegurgitation

When imaging the flow of radioactive water through the central circulation, a lot more than myocardial perfusion can be calculated. My research focuses on how we can further utilize and refine the vast amount of information that is available from such images #ISRVT25

Diffuse Midline Glioma is one of the most aggressive childhood brain tumors, with very limited treatment options.
They are known to have signature mutations in histone 3 variants. Additional mutations also include PDGFRA, TP53, ACVR1 and PI3K mutations #ISRVT25

Oxygen-15 has a short half-life (122 s) which yields a low radiation dose to the patient and allows for rest/stress imaging of the heart in the same session. However, you do need to be in a hurry when working with radioactive water! #ISRVT25

In oxygen-15 water PET, the radioactive tracer is injected simultaneously to starting the PET acquisition. This is known as dynamic PET imaging and allows us to follow rapid processes in the body #ISRVT25

Assessment of myocardial perfusion is an important task in cardiovascular imaging. The gold standard for non-invasive quantification of myocardial perfusion is positron emission tomography (PET) using radioactive water (labeled with the isotope oxygen-15). #ISRVT25

Most of these tumor cultures tend to die or loose their properties when cultured in 2D.
One of the most common examples being Sonic-Hedgehog Medulloblastoma

iPS-cell-derived microglia promote brain organoid maturation via cholesterol transfer - Nature The authors seek to understand the precise roles of microglia in the early human brain by coculturing brain organoids with primitive-like macrophages generated from the same human induced pluripotent ...

Did you know co-culturing iPSC-derived brain organoids with microglia can help the organoids mature faster? This was a great, crisp paper I came across.

When it comes to psychiatric care, I have a strong interest, and belief, in preventive measures. Such efforts could be especially meaningful when dealing with such turbulent and impactful events as psychosis. Initiatives such as #OnTrackNY give hope for better help to those in need. #ISRVT25

Lung cancer imaging: MRI in addition to PET/CT?

Last week, we published the results from our study about imaging options in the staging of lung cancer. To optimize treatment we need to be as accurate as possible when looking into if the tumor has spread. Article now available on PubMed👇 #ISRVT25

Presentation at European Congress of Radiology 2025 in Vienna

In our most recent study we investigated if MRI adds value to the standard clinical work-up in the initial staging of lung cancer, or if we should just stick to PET/CT. We found no additional value in performing MRI as well. #ISRVT25

Strategies for the Prevention of Violence in Institutional Care: A Qualitative Interview Study With Ward Managers - PubMed Ward managers described ethical challenges surrounding violence and coercive measures. These were often described as practical problems, so there seems to be a need for a development of higher ethical...

Addressing the issues of violence and coercion in mental health care often requires active involvement from many different stakeholders. Looking at ward managers in particular, their strategies to do this may vary, as pointed out in this study: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35463501/ #ISRVT25

We know that PET/CT is great for detecting tumors with high metabolic activity, which is the case in many of the common lung cancers. But can we use MRI as a complement - to be able to more specifically characterize suspicious lesions? In our most recent study we are investigating this 🔎 #ISRVT25

Do you know anyone fighting against cancer?🤺 Have you ever thought of the enormous impact the radiology scans have on treatment decision? What if we could improve the accuracy of those scans - possibly it could help us find more tumors BUT also reduce suffering of unnecessary treatment🤔 #ISRVT25

Side effects of hormonal contraceptives:

Endometrial and ovarian cancer risks are approximately halved and persists for at least 10 years after cessation.

Combined oral contraceptives can increase the risk of certain types of cardiovascular disease in women with a pre-existing condition

Hormonal contraceptives

Hormonal contraceptives refers to birth control methods that act on the endocrine system.

There are 2 main types of hormonal contraceptives formulations: combined methods which contain both an estrogen and progestin, and progestin- only method.

Phase4: in this phase, eat Rogen and testosterone decline and your body starts producing progesterone.
