Capstone Projects for Certified Public Managers (an example from the Fall 2025 cohort) Digitizing the Building Permit Process at the City of Oak Forest by Mike Forbes The Problem The City of Oak Forest relies on in-person, paper building permit applications. This process is inconvenient and time-consuming for both city staff and applicants. The Goal Using the City’s current permit processes, develop recommendations for an online web-based permitting platform to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.
