The train's now in Mount Victoria (where a bunch of passengers got off for tours), and will apparently now take four hours to reach Sydney Central from here. Kinda curious how they'll manage to travel that bit so slowly. I'm in my comfy room though, no hurry.

Among my #2024 train travels, one certainly stands out: #Sydney to #Perth on board the #IndianPacific 🇦🇺. Passing through the Outback over night, one could see the Southern Cross 🌌 through the train window. A most memorable moment for someone from the Northern Hemisphere. ✨🌟💫

#Perth 🇦🇺 is the terminus station for the #IndianPacific from #Sydney, yet it’s not the end of the line: on a suburban train one can reach #Fremantle, a port town right by the Indian Ocean. (And it’s got a really nice train station.)

Next to the #Sleepers and the #LoungeCar|s, the long consist of the #Sydney to #Perth #IndianPacific 🇦🇺 includes some beautifully decorated @_DiningCar|s where freshly cooked breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be enjoyed in a cosy atmosphere.

#Cook 🇦🇺 in the middle of no… err, in the middle of the #Nullarbor Plain. A fresh-air stop, as remote as it can get: #Adelaide and #Perth are each more than 1,000 kms away. And: it’s THE opportunity for everyone to take pictures of the #IndianPacific, its 27 cars and the loco.

Through the #Australia|n 🇦🇺 #Outback with the #IndianPacific. One last #Kurventweet photo looking towards the front of the train before we enter #Nullarbor Plain: not a single tree out here (that’s in the name) and not a single curve either. 478 kms of perfectly straight line.

The #IndianPacific 🇦🇺 from #Sydney to #Perth via #Adelaide has got a number of Lounge Cars in its consist: perfect places to unwind, to enjoy some really good coffee ☕️ or a drink.

The first full day on the #IndianPacific 🇦🇺 with an afternoon arrival into #Adelaide. Nice views from the cabin window throughout. On some occasions, when the train is going through a curve, one can see the two engines at the front of the train‘s long consist.

Boarding the #IndianPacific 🇦🇺 at #Sydney Central. The train is almost 30 cars long. The 4,352 km long journey to #Perth, on the other end of #Australia, will last 65 hours they say. Plenty of mileage ahead then. And what a beautiful train!
