False-color infrared image of a newly discovered impact crater on Jupiter's moon Europa. The crater, near the image's center, shows a light red ring around a dark core (approx. 29 km diameter). Red indicates relatively pure water ice, while blue suggests other minerals. This is only one of seven comparably sized craters found on Europa, suggesting frequent surface resurfacing.  The dark core may contain remnants of the impacting body.  Europa's icy crust potentially hides a subsurface ocean.
