#InspectorRishi End of Walkthrough.
Do I recommend?
Yes it's a very good series. It only has a rare couple of moment when the typical Indian TV crapness takes over but otherwise it's a strong folk horror entry. The procedural might've been more to the fore at times but I enjoyed 9 of its 10 eps.
#InspectorRishi TV 1.10 cont'd.
OK we didn't get supernatural as the cause but actually we kinda did as Rishi actually met The Vanaratchi in ep #1.09 it is revealed.
Kathy, Sathya and Mangai were well seeded but I'd have to rewatch for the others involvement.
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.10 "Close Encounters" (29-Mar-24).
That was pretty good finale. Didn't disappoint. Most of it worked out but it'd have been better if a couple of the scenes where we see Rishi observing the tribe survivors had actually been dropped into those earlier eps.
#InspectorRishi TV 1.09 cont'd.
I liked the cave scenes but Chitra breathing in "toxic" powder that's somehow attributed to be hallucinogenic is just bad writing. Even worse as it was Rishi describing it so.
The finale with Kathy & Rishi was creepy but perplexing. Don't drop the ball now writers!
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.09 "The Secret Cavern" (29-Mar-24).
At its best when its just police procedural. Bar the main ship with Rishi we don't need time wasted with Chitra or Ayyanar's private lives.
The back story of the tribe surely means this show has finally chosen to be a supernatural show?
#InspectorRishi TV 1.08 cont'd.
The Rishi & Kathy ship is quite nice and they're nicely different from your typical Indian TV couple.
This was the first ep with a major action set piece though the chase at the start was so cheap as it started in a busy town and suddenly we are in an quiet wood!
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.08 "The Darkest Hour" (29-Mar-24).
Chitra's lesbian g/f is married off whilst Ayyanar reconciles with his wife. Why these are even in the story who knows?
Checking the photographer's photos might've been done
earlier. Why did he have photos of the goats not as bait?
#InspectorRishi TV 1.07 cont'd.
The four murder victims would've been investigated already for common links.
Sathya &/or Irfan are in with the conspiracy? I bet Sathya is conning the poachers but then having them murdered?
Though I do not want the supernatural elements to be debunked.
#InspectorRishi TV 1.06 cont'd.
Rishi's back story is so dumb. Ok his g/f went nuts but how is she turning up at where he's working undercover? Why hasn't Rishi got a separate phone when undercover?
Rishi had a major psychosis but "had a few days therapy". Therapy takes months and years writers!
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.06 "Something Wicked" (29-Mar-24).
A poor ep as it was jus Rishi's background which is an irrelevance to the main story. What could've been a 10 minute acted scene between Naveen Chandra and Sunaina Yella so helping their ship was instead a 30' unnecessary flashback.
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.05 "Something Wicked" (29-Mar-24).
Rishi's pyschosis is interesting but how was he let back on active duty with such an issue? He takes medication for it so he's hiding that he has mental issues.
Ranger Satjya Nambeesan is actually the more interesting character.
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.04 "What Lies Beneath" (29-Mar-24).
Did Rishi's ex lose it? There's a big time jump between her being a GF then a stalker.
Rishi and Cathy are a ship now?
OK Chitra is a lesbian - got sold a dummy as I thought she Ayyanar were being set up.
Who was that woman at the start?
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.03 "In the Shadows" (29-Mar-24).
Very more-ish which can't be said for most Indian TV.
So Rishi is haunted by his dead girlfriend not the Vanaratchi. That was the same women at the start of ep #1.02 who lived?
I thought they were going for lesbian for Chitra but no?
#InspectorRishi TV 1.02 cont'd.
The folklore element is also well presented. Albeit the cops watching a video explaining Earth Spirits was out of character. Why would Rishi be looking up random YouTube level fare?
I didn't expect Rishi to be targeted unless it's somehow relevant to his backstory.
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.02 "Devil in the Details" (29-Mar-24).
Ignore the silly opening credits which makes it seem like a macho super cop show. It's not yet it's a very strange misstep to start each ep.
The police procedural is quite good as Rishi isn't doing anything specoal but is thorough.
#InspectorRishi TV 1.01 cont'd.
The format isn't unusual: big city cop called into lead the local fuzz to their chagrin. So far the local cops aren't too stereotypical and Naveen Chandra's Rishi is pretty engaging.
The supernatural reveal up top was a nice shock and the entity is depicted creepilyl
#InspectorRishi TV ep #1.01 "The Huntress" (29-Mar-24).
Rolling the dice with Indian TV. The only TV show I rated has been #Khauf.
But this is good! Set in Tamil Nadu and in Tamil language which I think #TheVillage is too. It deals with foest folklore and a tribal Goddess called Vanaratchi.
