Forgotten pioneer: Susan Isaacs and the fight for women’s rights As the US debates gender equality, Susan Isaacs’ life reminds us why women’s rights must be actively defended – not taken for granted

Today marks the start of #InternationalWomensWeek, during which we're urged to #AccelerateAction. But sadly, current events in the US seem to be *reversing* advances of the past 150 years. @drpam.bsky.social takes a look at what happens when women's rights are not proactively protected by law.

Incarceration of First Nations Women

And what about the growing demographic of women in prison?

Incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Queensland has increased by 120% in recent years.

87% of women in custody are survivors of violence or abuse.

Unless government policy changes, this will only get worse.

We cannot celebrate progress while ignoring systems that harm women who are further marginalised by society.

March Forward for all Women

When we celebrate progress, we must ask: which women are moving forward - and who is being left behind?

Women's equality must include:

- First Nations women
- Older women
- Women with disabilities
- Migrant & refugee women
- LGBTQIA+ women
- Women across all socioeconomic classes

Let's March forward - but let's also make sure ALL women are included.

Through an intersectional lens, all women can live in a safe, affordable and accessible Queensland.

This change is possible, but you need to vote for it.
