Obie, the idiot dog, managed to surprise a lizard on our afternoon walk. Irish lizards shed their tails when surprised to distract predators as they make their escape... It will grow a new one but it does take a while... In the meantime, here's a wiggly lizard tail... #IrishFauna #Lizards

We seem to have lots of grasshoppers this June - I'm guessing it was the hot spell in May. Anyway, this is the first one to sit still long enough for me to get a decent photo. And today's 'New in the Bog Meadow' is... Peacock Butterfly caterpillars! Appeared overnight in one of our nettle patches... Hopefully some make it to be next year's butterflies... and the others will keep the young birds happy... #Rewilding #IrishFauna #IrishButterflies #Caterpillars

Well that's made my week! Checked our #Mayo Bog Meadow wildlife camera today & discovered this inquisitive pine marten had come to say hello! We're here a year now and it's the first confirmation that we've had that they're around. #IrishWildlife #IrishFauna #PineMartens
