It's bouncy wildlife time! Here's an Irish Stoat on our wildcam down in the bog meadow - Irish/Manx stoats are smaller than their UK cousins & keep their brown coats through the Winter - more info@ www.vincentwildlife.ie/species/iris... #IrishWildlife #IrishFauna #IrishStoats
Obie, the idiot dog, managed to surprise a lizard on our afternoon walk. Irish lizards shed their tails when surprised to distract predators as they make their escape... It will grow a new one but it does take a while... In the meantime, here's a wiggly lizard tail... #IrishFauna #Lizards

...out by their collars. Obie looks bemused, Jess has hunty face, pine marten looks pissed off... anyway, I release dogs halfway down fields & Jess goes straight back but Mr Marten is long gone... Anyway, here he is on a dog-free wildcam a couple of weeks ago.. 2/2 #pinemarten #irishfauna
Close up photo of a Common Field Grasshopper resting on a leaf in our high meadow today. It's a mix of brown and green with a distinctive green stripe down its back.
We seem to have lots of grasshoppers this June - I'm guessing it was the hot spell in May. Anyway, this is the first one to sit still long enough for me to get a decent photo. They always make me think of childhood - hot Summers of trying to catch them in our back garden... #IrishFauna #Grasshoppers
Photo of a Common Blue butterfly resting on a grass. It's very blue!
Photo of a Meadow Brown on a buttercup. It's brown & orange with a distinctive black spot on the top wing.
Today in the 'pond meadow' (we haven't built the pond yet but it's coming...) - my first spot of a Common Blue on our land plus lots of Meadow Browns... #IrishButterflies #IrishWildlife #IrishFauna
And today's 'New in the Bog Meadow' is... Peacock Butterfly caterpillars! Appeared overnight in one of our nettle patches... Hopefully some make it to be next year's butterflies... and the others will keep the young birds happy... #Rewilding #IrishFauna #IrishButterflies #Caterpillars
Well that's made my week! Checked our #Mayo Bog Meadow wildlife camera today & discovered this inquisitive pine marten had come to say hello! We're here a year now and it's the first confirmation that we've had that they're around. #IrishWildlife #IrishFauna #PineMartens
Photo of a brown and cream patterned butterfly resting on grass.
Another new spot on our walk down to the bog meadow this afternoon - my Irish fauna group say it's a Marsh Fritillary - which is Ireland's only legally protected insect apparently! So I'm gonna cuddle it very carefully... biodiversityireland.ie/surveys/mars... #IrishButterflies #IrishFauna #Mayo
