The Resistance said as enemy troops arrived at the point of ambush, Resistance fighters confronted them with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) in a close-quarters battle, resulting in confirmed casualties among the enemy forces. At the time of the release of the statement, at 1:20 am on Sunday, the Military Media Unit revealed that confrontations were ongoing on the eastern outskirts of the town.
