On the day when #Baseball #MLB celebrates #JackieRobinson #42 I feel it's important to recognize the actual first black player in major league baseball.
Moses Fleetwood Walker, better know as Fleet Walker, was truly the first. He played in 1884 for the American Association (which became the […]
All the players on both teams are wearing #42 on their jerseys tonight in honor of Jackie Robinson Day 💓 His story is always so inspiring to me. Happy to see all the love on the field. ⚾🧢💓 #JackieRobinson
Saw Tork in 42 and for about 12 seconds was wondering why he changed his number.
Then I remembered what day it was.
Respect to Jackie Robinson, one of the mentally toughest athletes ever, and he could really play the game too.

We were at the first #JackieRobinson day, at Shea Stadium. A great day. Bill Clinton spoke. Can you imagine the unholy mess this prick we have in the White House now would have made of it? Jesus!

79 years ago today, on #April15th1947, (the same EXACT Day my Father was born) #JackieRobinson broke the @MLB color barrier. Few human beings can EVER say that they made the world a better place for them having been in it. He did! May his memory be a blessing! 🙏 #PlayBall 🧢🏏⚾️

Wearing a Jackie Robinson memorial t-shirt
Wearing a memorial "Boston Strong" jersey
Wearing these shirts to remember a true American hero in Jackie Robinson in breaking the barrier he did in MLB 79 years ago, and to remember those lost and hurt, and those who survived and saved lives, in Boston 13 years ago. To Jackie, and forever Boston Strong! 💛💙 #BostonStrong #jackierobinson

While I am very happy over your obviously fine start as our President, my concern of Civil Rights and my vigorous opposition to your election is one of sincerity. The direction you seem to be going indicates America is in for great leadership, and I will be most happy if my fears continue to be proven wrong. We are naturally keeping a wondering eye on what will happen, and while any opposition or criticism may not be the most popular thin when you are leading so well, you must know that as an individual I am interested because what you do or do not do in the next 4 years could have a serious effect upon my children's future. In your letter to me of July 1, 1960, you indicated that you would use the influence of the White House in cases where moral issues are involved...Still, we are going to use whatever voice we have to awaken our people.
#OTD in 1947, #JackieRobinson became the first Black baseball player to play in the MLB.
14 years later, he wrote to JFK about the work still needed to be done in the area of civil rights.
