I found a lot of things by just walking around. Walking from one site to another helped me find things I would of otherwise missed.

Can we talk about Japanese manhole covers? They are frequently pieces of art, like this one that depicts the Enoshima folktale of the goddess Benzaiten and the dragon Gozuryu.

That's not coconut on my matcha/black sesame ice cream from Enoshima. That's shirasu or whitebait. Yep, those are fish. I couldn't do it, but my foodie son tried it. He doesn't recommend it.

#Japanuary2025, Day 22: Exploring

Enoshima was so incredible that it's featured in my current WIP. We didn't have enough time to explore the caves, so I'm already planning a second research trip to Enoshima later this year. 1/3

Taking the time to walk between two sights instead of taking the subway can be a great way to discover new places. I would have never stopped by Sumida Park if I took the train between Senso-ji temple and Tokyo Skytree 🌸

Day 22: Exploring

In a different sense of the word, I love exploring glass cabinet shops! These are shops where people can sell their own goods, and it's really cool to see what you can find. The jojo cabinets were especially cool, albeit out of my budget.

Taking the train might be easy, but walking on foot, you get to see things.

Exploring in Japan! My favourite thing to do is find unique, cute and bizarre things in unexpected places. Stunning art in the Robot Restaurant, random anime girl at a shrine, bizarre bathroom fixtures and a golden mouse statue? Why not! #Japanuary25D22 #Japanuary25 #Japanuary

The area around Lake Saiko and Kawaguchiko is beautiful. We even saw a local kitty 😺

Thenlme for #Japanuary25D22 is exploring.

Probably nothing says exploring like the Antarctic Research ship Fuji which has been turned into a museum in Nagoya. Alternatively Higashihiroshima with it's Sake breweries, Kobe Port, Nagoya Toyota Museum, Tokyo Harry Potter or old post town Narai-Juku.

Exploring - a lesser known part of Tokyo and I found myself on the 7th floor of an apartment over looking this crazy highway junction at #night.
