Silk dyed indigo, striped white where it was folded and wrapped up with string and scrunched around a tube, unfolded and hung up in the back yard avocado tree to dry. The pattern winds up looking like wood grain, water ripples, or as the name suggests, lightning.

Noble fir clippings make a nice swag; hanging above an oak piece of furniture that came with the house made by Papa Santiago to fit an old murphy bed indent in the wall.

Today was our own home "hanging of the Greens" - we made a couple of swags and got them hung up, with a center spray.

"Fire basket" by my mother, Mary Temple, in Swedish wool over cotton clothesline, with 5 groups of rya-knot elements adding fringe around the edges, in oranges, reds, ochre, into dark reddish-purples. It is a bit like looking into the colors of a campfire. She was mainly a tapestry artist, which is reflected here in yarn and technique choices.

This is one of my mother's baskets, coil-wrapped technique with rya knot elements, Swedish rug yarn over 1/4" clothesline. Each round on the risers took 80 hours.
