Anyway moving on to book no 5 of the month, this morning I started #TheCityWeBecame by #NKJemison and i’m already locked in 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ #jazreads26

And i don’t mean that in a bad way!!! But i cant expect every book i read to give full backstories, have in-depth character growth, and address larger societal problems that loom over the various situations introduced. Sometimes they’re just good fun and entertainment and that’s enough! #jazreads26

Okay so I finished this in the wee hours of yesterday morning and i enjoyed it, though there wasn’t really anything groundbreaking. I do have some issues with how certain parts of the plot progressed/played out but i also remind myself that this is very much a vacation/beach/airport read #jazreads26

Started #IfINeverMetYou by #MhairiMcFarlane and wowow this book is British™ not that it matters tbh but it’s a nice change of (voice) pace, especially after my previous read. So far the story is setting up nicely so I’m looking forward to this #jazreads26

Aaaaand that concludes my reading of Olivie Blake’s Gifted & Talented. Reading this book gave me constant whiplash (complementary) and I honestly look forward to rereading it. Also, all media that i’ve consumed about Rich People™ makes the case that they’re all miserable and insane smh #jazreads26

I am currently obsessed with this book so naturally i borrowed a digital copy from my library so i can keep reading on my phone while at work bc it’s generally frowned upon to whip out a book while sitting in front of my computer and phones are literally easier to excuse 🤷🏾‍♀️ #jazreads26

I haven’t read anything else by this author (and again, i am enjoying this book) but it at least seems to me that this is a deliberate choice to have this voice for the narrator (literally introduced as God) vs this being the author’s standard writing voice #jazreads26

Okay so like this is a prime example of what I’m talking about with the sentences that go on forever (towards which i am ambivalent) #jazreads26

Wowow this is like Succession on crack these kids (adults) are truly fucked like seriously Logan Roy whoooo?? I will say tho, while I am enjoying this so far (130pgs), the writing (narrator) is a little convoluted at times. Like I have to reread sometimes just to keep track but it’s fun! #jazreads26

K i read one more chapter and this book is not hitting for me. Literally halfway through and i gotta chalk my first DNF of the year oh well on to the next #jazreads26

Idk if i can finish this book bc the mc now has to retrieve a soul from a lady’s breasts and i think we’ve lost the plot here. I’m roughly halfway through this book and i really don’t want to DNF but, really my dude? The soul living in the titty implants?? 🙄😒 #jazreads26
