Have you read wuxia novels in English, either official (e.g. Legends of the Condor Heroes) or fan translations(e.g. on wuxiaworld)?
Help with my PhD research on Chinese martial arts fiction in English by filling out a 10-min anonymous survey: app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/arts/readi...

The desert setting is eerily atmospheric and reminds one of the 1992 New Dragon Gate Inn setting. The theme of justice & grassroots' struggle for survival resembles A Deadly Secret by #JinYong. I was most impressed with #ChenLijun 's (FL) and #CiSha 's (villain) acting!!
In sum, NOT TO BE MISSED!

Gigi Chang, main translator of #JinYong 's popular #CondorHeroes trilogy, has found the site on Wudang Mountains where Zhang Sanfeng, the founder of Wudang martial arts, used to train in Tai Chi!

Just went to see a Hong Kong artist's (Li Chi-ching 李志清) paintings exhibition. He' known for cover art and illustrations for Jin Yong's wuxia novels as well as for characters from Romance of Three Kingdoms.

These are some excerpted scenes from TV/film adaptations (spanning the 1960s to the 2000s) of Jin Yong' #wuxia novels that I managed to take shots of at the #JinYong Gallery of the Heritage Museum yesterday!
I've translated Jin Yong's full preface with all the fascinating details about each being, their characteristics, and the Buddhist philosophy behind them.

Bref. 3 mois plus tard, j’ai réussi à me poser pour regarder l’épisode 2 de Legend of Condor Heroes la série TVB de 1983 #hkdrama #jinyong #tvb
This book review that appears in the Jade Moon Magazine Issue 2 truly strikes a deep chord with me! The reviewer is indeed a kindred spirit!
The interview is a long one, but you bet it's well worth your time 😍

Look what I've found! The original 1983 TVB Cantonese version of 射鵰英雄傳 #LegendofCondorHeroes! It's split into three parts. This is Part 1, 鐵血丹心.
This is TVB's Official North America site and has all the old TVB dramas, including #JinYong #wuxia !!!!!!

There's a more recent #wuxia epic that's way underrated: Legend of the Condor Heroes: the Gallants! It's directed by the iconic wuxia film master Tsui Hark and starring the legendary #XiaoZhan ! It's the latest film adaptation of #JinYong 's most popular wuxia novel!
Woke up this morning to find this heartfelt review and beautiful image! 💃😍

I've finished vol. 1 & 2 of The Heaven Sword and the Dragon Sabre 倚天屠龍記. Now onto vol. 3 & 4!
Btw, I found those 4 lines that Wang Yi had cited at the Munich Security Con in Chapter 18 of vol. 2. I think the essence is in the 2 lines following. 1/2

In recent years I had reread Book 1 & Book 2 of the Condor Heroes trilogy (ie Legend of the Condor Heroes 射鵰英雄傳 & Return of the Condor Heroes 神鵰俠侶). Now I feel an urge to reread Book 3 (The Heaven Sword and the Dragon Sabre 倚天屠龍記), which has a complex plot line & which I liked best.

What I like most about #JinYong 's #wuxia novels is that he thoughtfully wove history into his stories. It makes his novels timeless. Why? Because history's lessons never get out of date as human nature doesn't change. This is why I wove Tang Sai'er deeds of rebellion into my wuxia-myth story.
A gentle reminder that the nomination phase will end on April 5, 2025. If you want to see the #wuxia fantasy genre reach a wider global English-speaking audience and the #JinYong legacy continuing, here's your chance to help. Nominate The Earthly Blaze for this special award!
I'm about halfway through A Deadly Secret 連城訣 (one of the shorter #wuxia novels by #JinYong that I hadn't got round to reading), and I'm like "this sounds familiar!" Guess what? The story was inspired by Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo (as admitted by Jin Yong himself)!!!
Did you know how #JinYong would rate #wuxia fiction? He cited Romance of the Three Kingdoms as an example to illustrate the critical importance of characterization as a criterion of evaluation, second only to theme exposition.

If anyone is up to watching #wuxia #cdramas with explosive fight scenes and a compelling story, I'd highly recommend Side Story of Fox Volant which is adapted from one of #JinYong 's novels titled The Young Flying Fox (prequel to Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain).

Just found this extremely even-handed review of #LOCHmovie by someone who has not read the entire #JinYong novel but who got totally invested in the movie all the same.
"... his film is filled with an energy that is lacking from many similar #wuxia tales..."
