A netting has been set up to shade some thuja from the sun. There is a metal pole stuck to the snow that is holding up the netting. There is a pitchfork set up horizontally, connected on one end to a fence and on the other end the pole goes through the fork. The aim of the pitchfork is to prevent the pole from leaning towards the fence.
Summarises why I'm not a hardware engineer.
