June Lake, in California’s eastern Sierras, was a favorite escape for 1930s Hollywood, including Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, and Greta Garbo. When we went last week, the lake was serene and beautiful, and mostly empty (that’s my wife kayaking in the center of the frame).
