I finished listening to C.J. Box’s “Out of Range.” A solid story, as I’ve come to expect. This is quickly becoming one of those comfort food series that I turn to when I’m in a slump. #books #JuneOnTheRange

I finished listening to James Michener's "Centennial." I first read it about 30 years ago, and it still holds up as a great story about people and their interactions with the land. I loved it. I wasn't sure it would be a good fit for #JuneOnTheRange, but it ended up being perfect. #books

I'm glad the other westerns I've read for #JuneOnTheRange have grounded me in the setting for Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian." Unfortunately, the language feels so overwrought that it borders on parody. I may be struggling with this one. #books

I finished Alan LeMay’s “The Searchers” late last night. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but still very good. Up next is Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian.” It’s a #JuneOnTheRange pick as well as my 1985 entry in the #MyNovelLife challenge to read one book from each year I’ve been alive. #books 🤠

The audiobook for James Michener’s “Centennial” is 50 hours long. I’m on the sixth chapter, covering the arrival of the Mennonites. It’s six hours all by itself. #books #JuneOnTheRange #BigBookSummer

My #FridayReads update: I’m 25% of the way through Alan LeMay’s “The Searchers.” I’m also 26% of the way through the audio of James Michener’s “Centennial,” but I think all of “The Searchers” would fit into just this one chapter about the Mennonites. #books #JuneOnTheRange #BigBookSummer

I read the first three chapters of Alan LeMay's "The Searchers" on my dinner break. I can already tell this is going to be a good one. Starts out on a disquieting note and the tension is already starting to mount. #books #JuneOnTheRange

I finished Charles Portis' "True Grit," which was every bit as good as I'd hoped. Up next is Alan LeMay's "The Searchers." Unlike with "True Grit," I've never seen the movie for this one. #books #JuneOnTheRange

I finished Stephen King's "Never Flinch." Solid thriller, and I like Holly's character. I counted it toward my May total since I read most of it before the month ended. I'll be starting Charles Portis' "True Grit" on my dinner break as the start of #JuneOnTheRange. #books
