Public investment in higher ed is one of the smartest investments Kentucky can make. It helps students earn credentials that lead to better jobs & sustainable incomes. It helps employers find the talent they need. And it strengthens communities across the Commonwealth. #KYHigherEdMatters

It’s not the major—it’s the student mindset. Too many times, they pick what sounds “fun” or "interesting" without a plan for life after the diploma. Strong, intentional advising from day one helps connect passion to purpose - and CPE is working to improve that. #KYHigherEdMatters
When we talk about the student mental health crisis, we often focus on diagnoses. But stress, especially from work, caregiving and isolation, can be just as harmful. Empathy and connection matter when it comes to retention and completion. #KYHigherEdMatters
Like all trends, #KYHigherEd enrollment moves in slow-rolling waves - and we’re glad to see we’re rising out of the trough. With a shrinking high school population, it's especially encouraging that a growing percentage of students are choosing postsecondary! #KYHigherEdMatters
As more students take courses online - especially our adult learners - we've got to communicate holistically about financial & career advising services. When students are unsure of what to do, they are more likely to stop out or amass unnecessary debt. #KYHigherEdMatters
You hear about massive student debt—but often it’s from grad school or for-profit colleges. The real issue? Poor student planning. In KY, we’re fixing it with better advising, career alignment, & student support to boost completion - and we're seeing results! #KYHigherEdMatters
Many think of "students who work" as full-time students with part-time jobs. But non-traditional students, especially parents, often work 40+ hours a week. Higher ed must offer flexibility & empathy—without sacrificing quality—to support their success. #KYHigherEdMatters
When communities do not promote education beyond high school or lack strong K12-postsecondary partnerships, it is VERY hard to get residents believing #KYHigherEdMatters. We must work together to get more residents into higher ed - that's how we strengthen local economies.
While KY foster youth do qualify for waivers & financial aid, they also lack traditional family supports and assistance when it comes to managing finances, homework, working & childcare. This is why targeted student services are so vital to campus operations. #KYHigherEdMatters
Academic services, a focus on the underserved, innovation in course delivery, increased financial aid -- all the things we're doing on our campuses ARE improving student retention, engagement and support. #KYHigherEdMatters
Considering the past 5yrs - pandemic, inflation & many devastating weather events - progress is good news (even the negative numbers because they are improving) & are promising of an upswing. Thank you to our hard-working campuses - you're making a difference! #KYHigherEdMatters
