Y'all know there *are* actually three main SFF genres? Right?

Fantasy
Science Fantasy
Science Fiction

Please look them up. I guarantee if you're well-read in SFF you've read science fantasy and possibly didn't know it.

That's why you'll see people writing/saying 're-scraped' vellum/parchment.

They were often reused. The hides just scraped down another layer to remove the writing. (Paintings were often painted over, too.)

use the clinical terms, because readers tend to find them not erotic.

Look. Real talk. If you're writing erotic material? You need to be able to use the words.

Alternatively, you can write closed door, or fade to black scenes.

Romance & erotica have moved waaaaay past those words.

And yes, I've seen people using the terms for other body parts they sound like.

But those are the original meanings of those bits of slang.

Both are considered to be from the 20th century, but we don’t, apparently, know from exactly where.

PALETTE: A range of colours, or a board an artist might use to mix colours.

PALATE: has several meanings, but the one most confused with palette is 'sense of taste'. IE: A developed palate for wines.

Please. For the love of readers' eyes, learn the difference between further and farther. They aren't the same. Further is not a fancy way of saying farther.

Further = metaphorical

Farther = Distance

Reminder that words like 'womanhood' 'manhood' 'womanly/manly parts' female/male parts is transphobic and you need to stop using this language in writing.

Trust me, we know what parts you're referring to, just label them.
