Mount Kanlaon in the #Philippines has just experienced a "moderately explosive" eruption, sending a massive 5km (3-mile) ash plume into the sky.
This is the third eruption this year. Alert Level 2 is in effect—residents are urged to stay clear of the 4km Permanent Danger Zone.

Meanwhile, ground deformation data, suggest that the edifice of kanlaon remains generally inflated. Alert level 3 remains over Mt. Kanlaon while a six-kilometer permanent exclusion zone is maintained from all the sectors of the volcano.

DOST PHIVOLCS bulletin of the 24-hour summary observation of Mt. Kanlaon's activity showing both seismicity, sulfur dioxide degassing, plume activity and height, and ground deformation parameters of the volcano. Kanlaon volcano has remained under alert level 3 indicating magmatic unrest since 09 Dec 2024. Under alert level 3, there should be no people living or entering into the expanded danger zone of 6 km from the crater. Additionally, flying of any aircraft close to the main summit/crater is strictly prohibited.
According to the most recent PHIVOLCS report, Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island registered 7 volcanic earthquakes and produced more than 3,000 tons of sulfur in 24 hours of monitoring, maintaining an alert level of 3.

Likewise, the residents living near river channels draining the edifice of Mount Kanlaon are advised to maintain increased vigilance against muddy stream flows and/or lahars when heavy rainfall is forecast or has begun over the volcano.

Meanwhile, #KanlaonVolcano in the island of Negros belched ash six (6) times yesterday from 5:53 am to 8 o'clock pm on November 16. the entrained ash from strong and persistent degassing drifted mostly towards south southeast of volcano.
