The film sheds light on the massacre of Koreans by the Japanese Empire after the Kantō earthquake of 1923. This harrowing story of colonial violence has long been kept secret and remains unresolved to this day - with deep wounds for the survivors and their descendants. We are delighted to welcome the directors Kim Tae-young and Choi Gyu-seok as well as the creative producer Prof. Dr. Jinhee Josephine Lee, who are traveling to Germany especially for the German premiere of the film. During his regency, the #GreatKantoEarthquake hit the greater #Tokyo and #Yokohama area, causing approx. 105,000 deaths. This was immediately followed by the #KantoMassacre in which 6,000 people, mostly Koreans, were killed by angry mobs with the silent approval of the #Japanese government.
