During his regency, the #GreatKantoEarthquake hit the greater #Tokyo and #Yokohama area, causing approx. 105,000 deaths. This was immediately followed by the #KantoMassacre in which 6,000 people, mostly Koreans, were killed by angry mobs with the silent approval of the #Japanese government.
