Thor our beloved Karakachan Livestock Guardian Dog I ended up talking the driver as my gate is frozen so he needed to come through the house to access the backyard, Thor looked pretty scary being a big dog with a deep bark, but he was the most wonderfully sweet dog unless you were a coyote I got Thor because his first family were too close to a county highway and he was a wanderer (as most LGDs are) Thor was truly a gentle giant, and used to take off about every other day to go patrol the back 40 then walk over to my neighbours across the road for a cookie It wasn't even a concern of him being hit on my fairly busy road because he was traffic wise and way too big for people not to see him My neighbours loved Thor too, and really missed his regular visits once he was gone Thor lived a long very happy life here and passed peacefully a few years ago It was so great to hear someone speak so fondly of him and even recognize my address as his home I gave the guy a big box of milk bones as my prissy dogs won't eat them, I've spoiled them with homemade dehydrated liver and the like

I gave him a box of Thor's favourite treats I'd had sitting around for the other dogs on his route
