Two things come to mind:
1) @dkthomp.bsky.social in @theatlantic.com hoping we were more than automatons seeking frictionless acquisition of dopamine; and, 2) the late #KevinDrum (whose site I still reflexively check) wondering if advanced civilizations fail b/c ~impacts of tech-based isolation?
I opened the latest issue of Mother Jones magazine to the editor's column and found an obituary for longtime blogger Kevin Drum, who died of multiple myeloma in March.

Very sad to hear about Kevin Drum's passing. He lived just down the road. I only met him once, but we had a long conversation. He was smart and kind and decent and fair - writing about a world that is none of those things.

Kevin Drum, one of my favorite bloggers, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was a thoughtful, rational voice and a master at using charts to explain politics and culture with clarity and insight.
