Can you believe I watched my first two movies of his only this past week and even saw him on the stage of the cinema for a few minutes this past weekend? I haven't watched any of his dramas either 😂 the movies were good tho, both #TrainToBusan and #KimJiyoungBorn1982 (read the book a few years ago)

Watching #LittleForest (2018) and #KimJiYoungBorn1982 (2019) back-to-back was an interesting double take on women’s work. The former makes growing and preparing food by hand seem idyllic, while the second makes the same domestic labor seem like an unending burden.

I watched #KimJiYoungBorn1982. #JungYuMi is great, as always, her face showing every change in her emotions as a depressed mother trapped by patriarchy. #KimMiKyung as her mom made me cry. This movie felt like it was made more to prompt discussion than to entertain. It was not at all subtle.

#KimJiYoungBorn1982 had box office & critical success, receiving 24 awards nominations and won 10, including Best Actress at the 20th Women In Film Korea Festival, 56th Grand Bell Awards, & 40th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards for #JungYumi, who received a standing ovation from many peers.
#JungYumi and #GongYoo said that "they didn’t mind the haters (...) instead desire to do the story justice was their main focus."
Following the release of the film, a study made by the National Library of Korea, showed the number of loans for the book #KimJiYoungBorn1982 increased by 43%.
In 2019, #JungYumi starred in the feminist film #KimJiYoungBorn1982, based on the best-selling novel of the same title. The film was her third collaboration with #GongYoo.
The cast and crew, particularly Jung and Gong, received hate comments and harassment criticizing their involvement in the film.
