He became a founding member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python which produced the popular tv show Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Idle was integral to writing many of the lines the show’s fans often repeat in hopes of finding each other. According to Idle, “Always look on the bright side of life” is now one of the songs most commonly played or sung at British funerals.
