🔭 This is LDN 1251, a.k.a the Rotton Fish. A reflection nebula in Cepheus. Click the link and zoom in to see small galaxies, red stars, and emission nebula hidden in the cosmic dust! Taken from Trevinca, Spain.

A deep-space photograph showing a dark, elongated cloud stretching diagonally across the starry sky. The cloud, known as Lynds Dark Nebula 1251, appears as a murky, shadowy structure obscuring the stars behind it. Scattered throughout are tiny glowing red spots—Herbig-Haro objects—indicating regions of newborn stars. Faint background galaxies are also visible, peeking through the dust, with the entire view spanning nearly three full moons in width.

A stunning telescopic image of Lynds Dark Nebula 1251 (LDN 1251), a dusty molecular cloud about 1000 light-years away in the Cepheus flare region. The image reveals the reddish glow of Herbig-Haro objects, energetic outflows from newborn stars within the nebula. Distant galaxies are visible behind the dark dust clouds. The field of view spans about two full moons and is approximately 17 light-years across at the nebula's distance.
