A vaguely incoherent thread about the marvel that was the #LDWA100 Flower of Suffolk this weekend. My first attempt at a 100 miler.
Firstly, a massive thank you to all the organisers and volunteers for putting this on for 500 or so hopefuls. A gargantuan task undertaken with skill and kindness.
I did a thing. #LDWA100
Attempting to understand the route instructions for the #LDWA100 Flower of Suffolk while my cat distracts me.
I keep ending up in wildly the wrong place on the map. Maybe it will be easier in person.
Back to my 'home' #UKCanals today, the Basingstoke Canal. My last big training walk before the #LDWA100 Flower of Suffolk.
I was dropped off (no trains today :() in West Byfleet, close to where the canal joins the River Wey. Another day, another shark.
So many chicks out. 🐤
How could we turn down the offer of a lift today for my last big walk before the #LDWA100?
To Cirencester! There lies a large roman amphitheatre and a convenient path. Also flipping giant stiles.
The mist became rain. I learned my waterproof jacket is yet again not.
Badge says Norfolk and Suffolk LDWA The Flower of Suffolk Hundred 2025. A walker is depicted on sand, walking past the Shell statue at Aldeburgh.
Oh goodness, I got a place on the #LDWA100 next May. I've never walked/ran a hundred miles before.
I'll be setting up a fundraiser for the #BasingstokeCanal Our waterways are in desperate need of support. Where better to start than my local waterway where my love of long distance walking began.
