MP Book Reviews on Instagram: "Review: Painted by Merry Farmer 4 of 5 stars Rhys Hawthorne is lost in grief and creative burnout when Early Stevens — a vulnerable, searching member of his family’s staff — becomes the one person he can’t stay away from. Early is trying to rebuild their life after being rejected by their parents, and falling for Rhys feels both dangerous and inevitable. A teasing misunderstanding pushes their simmering tension into something far more intimate, and one night changes everything. With desire turning into something deeper, both Rhys and Early must decide whether breaking the rules is worth the chance at love. I loved this story that beautifully captured the magnetic pull between Rhys and Early — two people carrying very different kinds of grief that nonetheless draw them together with quiet inevitability. Rhys was still shattered by the loss of his sister, while Early is grieving parents who can’t accept their true self. Their pain runs parallel, creating a connection that feels both fragile and deeply powerful. What makes their relationship so compelling is how they recognised pieces of their own hurt in each other. The tenderness that grows between them isn’t simple or convenient, but it’s honest, healing, and impossible to ignore. As their bond deepens, it becomes clear that love isn’t just something they want — it’s something they need in order to move forward. This was a gentle, emotional, and beautifully intimate story about two wounded souls finding solace, understanding, and hope in each other. I loved the Rhys painting Early scene. This was an MM story with mature content. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0DC5FPX27" 0 likes, 0 comments - mp_book_reviews on February 14, 2026: "Review: Painted by Merry Farmer 4 of 5 stars Rhys Hawthorne is lost in grief and creative burnout when Early Stevens — a vulnerable, searching member of his family’s staff — becomes the one person he can’t stay away from. Bought this book online and I'm excited to read it but I have to finish a Dostoevsky first.
For some reason, the cover is sparkly and that's perfectly fitting I think✨️

MP Book Reviews on Instagram: "Review: A Corpse for Christmas by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory 4 of 5 stars When Eddie Wheelwright reunites with Tyler Morrow—the one he once left behind—he’s determined to make amends. Instead, he accidentally kills the man exploiting Tyler. And then, somehow, a few more of Tyler’s enemies. Tyler thinks Eddie is avenging him on purpose. Eddie absolutely is not. With Christmas looming and bodies piling up, their second chance at love hinges on one tiny detail: can Tyler forgive an accidental serial killer? I loved that this isn’t a simple “we drifted apart” reunion. Eddie and Tyler’s second chance is built on abandonment, trauma, and years of unspoken hurt, and so their reunion forces both men to confront the past rather than rewrite it. It was interesting that Tyler’s life had been shaped by violence, exploitation, and neglect. His scars — physical and emotional — aren’t just backstory; they inform every choice he makes, and Eddie becomes a catalyst, but not a cure. Tyler’s healing was jagged, reactive, and deeply human. I also loved that the story played with the tension between righteous fury and chaotic fate and the moral absurdity of someone becoming a hero by mistake. I also thought that both men carried distorted self‑images, as Eddie sees himself as a walking disaster and Tyler sees himself as unworthy of protection. Their journey challenged their internal narratives, asking whether people can rewrite the stories they’ve lived inside for years. Many emotions and feelings. This was an MM story with mature content. ** Please read any trigger warnings (or author notes) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0FQ6PCJ8D" 0 likes, 0 comments - mp_book_reviews on January 12, 2026: "Review: A Corpse for Christmas by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory 4 of 5 stars When Eddie Wheelwright reunites with Tyler Morrow—the one he once left behind—he’s determined to make amends. Ben Platt - Imagine [Official Video] The official music video for Ben Platt's "Imagine". "Imagine" Out Now: https://benplatt.lnk.to/Imagine Subscribe for more official content from Ben Platt: https://benplatt.lnk.to/Subscribe Twitter: https://twitter.com/bensplatt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bensplatt Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BenPlattOfficial Fans worldwide fell head over heels for Ben Platt during his Tony® Award-winning turn in the title role of Dear Evan Hansen and on-screen in films such as the Pitch Perfect franchise. As the vocalist, actor, and performer sang life into a host of nuanced and fascinating characters, audiences embraced his voice wholeheartedly. By dusting off the piano, picking up a pen, and singing his own truth straight from the heart, he shared another side of himself as a solo artist. Ben achieved superstar status as Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen, originating the lead role. The New York Times lauded him as a “breakout star,” and he went on to receive the 2017 Tony® Award for “Best Actor in a Musical.” Other honors included “Best Musical Theater Album” at the 2018 GRAMMY® Awards for the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Dear Evan Hansen, “Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program” at the Daytime EMMY® Awards for a cast performance of “You Will Be Found” on The Today Show, and more. Not to mention, he joined forces with Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda to craft a mash-up of “The Story of Tonight” and “You Will Be Found,” benefiting the “March for Our Lives” anti-gun violence movement. Signed to Atlantic Records by Chairman and C.E.O. Craig Kallman and President of A&R Pete Ganbarg, he explored his formative influences, ranging from timeless singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King to legendary crooners like Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. As a result, the music delivers confessional lyricism by way of soulful intimacy as part of one cohesive narrative on his 2019 full-length debut, Sing To Me Instead. The 12-track album, which was primarily produced by Jenn Decilveo, chronicles the highs and lows of a transformative relationship. Showcasing his story, Ben penned several songs solo and co-wrote the remainder of material alongside the likes of Ben Abraham, Eg White, Nate Cyphert, Michael Pollack, and more. #BenPlatt #Imagine

Here's song 4 from the playlist for my latest novel, "HE." I’m choosing "Imagine" by Ben Platt as Oren’s song because it sums up how he feels about Jackson. Next week’s song was the inspiration for HE, so check back for that.

Very, very entertaining novel. Immersed in the golden age of Hollywood, and the lengths its stars went to to be stars. Lesbian, bi, gay central characters. Really good and fun and captivating.

Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu - Carmilla (excerpt) Carmilla is an 1872 Gothic novella by Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. It is one of the earliest known works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula by 25 years. First published as a serial in The Dark Blue, the story is narrated by a young woman who is preyed upon by a female vampire named "Carmilla". The titular character is the prototypical example of the fictional lesbian vampire.
