Sailing the high energies ⚡
These are the first high-energy collisions recorded by the #LHC experiments in 2026.
Representing particle collisions at an energy of 13.6 TeV, these event displays mark the beginning of the experiments’ data-taking season and the final #LHCRun3.

It's time for physics! ⚛️
Stable particle beams returned to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at 15:58 CET on Saturday, 7 March, marking the start of the final run of #LHCRun3.
Hear from Chiara, an Accelerator Physicist, who offers insights into this year's run, the team's preparations for a new #physics season, and what lies ahead for the #LHC.
Stay tuned for part two to discover more about the LHC's future after #LHCRun3.
Ready, Set, Collide 💥
The Large Hadron Collider (#LHC) is gearing up to resume proton collisions. In this concluding physics run of #LHCRun3, proton beams will once again be delivered to the LHC experiments.
It’s the final countdown 🕕
In just a few weeks, CERN will power up the #LHC for the fifth and final physics run of the #LHCRun3. But what steps must we take before activating the machine?
Swipe to discover the five-step plan for waking up a particle collider.
After that, or even after the annual Year-End Technical Stop (YETS), the PS Booster is the first accelerator to be recommissioned, alongside Linac 4, before the beams reach the LHC.
In just a few days, the machines will be switched on again for the fifth and final run of #LHCRun3.
In a few weeks, the CCC will be bustling as the Large Hadron Collider awakens from its winter hibernation, ready for another data-taking season in #LHCRun3.

The LHC’s 11th year-long run of high-energy physics – the fourth year of the #LHCRun3 – broke a new record for integrated luminosity by delivering 125 fb-1 to both the @atlasexperiment.bsky.social and the @cmsexperiment.bsky.social.
‘Tis the season of heavy ions
Last Friday at 3.40 pm, a new #HeavyIon run began at the Large Hadron Collider, the fourth of #LHCRun3.

‘Tis the season of #physics 💫
“Stable" particle beams returned to the Large Hadron Collider at 13.51 CEST today, marking the start of the 2025 physics data-taking season, the fourth of the #LHCRun3.
Although it is practical, moving around in the LHC tunnel is not possible anymore, as right now it’s #BeamTime and the physics season is in full swing. #LHCRun3

What happens when we restart the LHC? 🤔
We asked our scientists Delphine and Samer to reveal what really happens when the world’s largest particle accelerator is getting ready to receive beam for its fourth season of #LHCRun3.
Protons were injected into the #LHC for the first time since November 2024, when the annual year-end technical stop (YETS) started. This is the fourth year of #LHCRun3, and the new data-taking season is about to begin.
Spring at CERN 🌸
As the flowers start to blossom and the days are getting sunnier, CERN prepares for #BeamTime at the Large Hadron Collider and the start of the fourth data-taking season of #LHCRun3.
