Loved die my love tonight, my favourite film of #LIFF2024 so far. That was despite the bizarre audience, laughing at a woman having a meltdown made me want to scream at them. As for the bloke who decided to scrunch his bag of crisps up at the most tense quiet part, he deserves a slow painful death
One of the standout titles from #LIFF2024 returns for a special autism-friendly screening. The Stimming Pool shows at Vue Leeds on 23 April, a bold, imaginative film exploring autistic perspectives, created by Neurocultures Collective and Steven Eastwood.

Letterboxd have added stats to Lists for Pro and Patron members so here's my world map, genres, countries and languages of #LIFF2024 feature length films.
45 Films
78.1 Hours
52 Directors
33 Countries
15 Languages
I also saw two films with the theme of "Erotic relationships and desire"
52 tickets for Leeds International Film Festival laid out on a table around the festival brochure and Gold Pass
Paper tickets ftw, a lot of the volunteers also said how much easier they were to check.
Voting slip represents The Killers because I had to make do with an email for that one.
Struggled to find space to fit all these into one photo

#15 ALL THE LONG NIGHTS
#LIFF2024 ends with quite a charmingly eccentric choice of closing film. This small, intimate Japanese tale is often beguiling, but it's so gossamer-light and dramatically insubstantial that it ends up floating away. 3/5
Just realised (or remembered) that because everything is awful now none of my automated Letterboxd review posts included the #LIFF2024 on the new social networks
#LIFF2024 Excellent festival, I thought it was a really good standard this year. Good to see the usual Leeds film tragics again too. Not quite sure how I stayed sane seeing an average of 3.75 films a day (some would say I didn't.)
Same again next year!

#LIFF2024 Film 64: All the Long Nights - Never takes direction you would expect by turning into a romance. There's no real big events either, but it holds your attention by always moving forward in small, incremental steps. Almost Ozu-like.
#LIFF2024 Film 63: When the Light Breaks - Well shot and acted. But it feels like a movie that started as a one sentence concept and never really evolved beyond that.
#LIFF2024 Film 62: The Killers - Anthology film with a lot of style, but not much substance. I liked the concept of the second story where killing is sub- sub- sub-contracted down to incompetents earning less than minimum wage. But seeing it isn't worth sitting through the rest of the dross.
#LIFF2024 Film 61: Cloud - I really liked the action in the latter half - clean, unfussy, percussive, no CGI, no gratuitous slo-mo. I liked the idea of revenge being taken over such petty reasons too. It could do with having 20-30 minutes shaved off the running time though.
Well once again #LIFF2024 has been fantastic.
"It will be so strange to wake up tomorrow." - When The Light Breaks
Here's the 45 films in some kind of order that I'll probably shuffle around over the next few days when I've had time to reflect
My #LIFF2024 Ranked
The last film of #LIFF2024, it's been one hell of a festival!
Counting all the features and short films this will be number 100 of the festival for me! See you again in 2025! List of LIFF films I've seen this year boxd.it/ztuPi

And that's a wrap on Leeds International Film Festival for another year! 18 films over 17 days and I've had such a great time. My evenings are going to feel very empty now! Also nice to see myself pop up on the summary film π #LIFF2024
#LIFF2024 - Film 18 - All The Long Nights - What a lovely film this is. Chronic conditions and poor mental health aren't topics that suggest a good time but in this film they're used to explore themes of kindness and connection in a way that's gentle, tender and sweet.
#LIFF2024 - Film 17 - Cloud (Japan) - One of those films where you're watching for a long while, praying for a good pay off. You get it but only just. The more I thought about this the more I liked it. The Lean character work helps in keeping it unpredictable.
It's the last day of #LIFF2024, four more movies and then back to reality. There have been some amazing films, highlights include Flow, Chainsaws Were Singing, All Shall Be Well, and Dead Talents Society. It's been wonderful, see you next year #LeedsInternationalFilmFestival π
#LIFF2024 I've heard about other showings with the sound not working too.
#LIFF2024 Could have done without the projection stopping for several minutes though. Seems to be a lot of technical problems at Vue this year, the 3rd time I've had disruption after the subtitles not being displayed properly in Le Samourai and them just not showing half of the Girl with the Needle
#LIFF2024 Film 60: Flow - Mesmerising, really draws you into the world and the animal characters' lives, and it creates a lot of tension and suspense.
#LIFF2024 Film 59: A Samurai in Time - I was expecting something goofy, but this had surprising depth and subtlety. The focus wasn't really on fish out of water time traveller shenanigans, more on an homage to a declining genre of filmmaking.
#LIFF2024 Film 58: The Gesuidouz - Has a certain charm, though the quirky lol random humour starts to get old after a while.
Last film of the day and of a 36ish hour (when finished) marathon... Who needs sleep!?
The Killers, the closing Fanomenon film of #LIFF2024, an amazing strand of the film festival. Last day of @leedsfilmfest tomorrow, and back to work on Monday! ππ€£
#LIFF2024 - Film 16 - Flow (Latvia) - A combination of the art style and the A to B to C plot reminded me of video games, especially ones like Ico or Journey. A really fantastically put together, immersive film that I enjoyed greatly. Come for the cat, stay for the capybara.
#LIFF2024 - Film 15 - A Samurai In Time (Japan) - Feel like I was missing something with this. It's a sweet comedy but over long. It either needed to ramp up the comedy or do something with the editing to make the whole thing tighter. Stodgy but not unenjoyable.
