Honored to receive the Live Long and Prosper Award from the Nimoy-Knight Foundation.

I grew up inspired by Spock’s logic and Kirk’s boldness, two sides of the scientist’s mindset.

🖖 Live long and prosper.

I’m incredibly honored and humbled to accept a LLAP Tribute Award from Julie Nimoy and David Knight of the Nimoy-Knight Foundation for honoring the legacy and memory of Leonard Nimoy. It’s a personal and professional honor for me to have worked on Star
Trek for over 25 years and meet so many amazing artists that have contributed to the vast, growing tapestry that is Star Trek. Across a career of amazing experiences, having the opportunity to meet and work with Leonard Nimoy stands above all.
My direct work with him was gratifying and I deeply appreciated his commitment to Star Trek, his fans, and to the cultural importance of character he created and lived alongside for 50 years. His commitment to his personal values and those of Star Trek were how he lived every day and something he imbued in his interactions with others.
While Leonard’s contributions to the world were many and his impact on lives incalculable, perhaps his greatest gift came in the form of a hand gesture chosen to accompany a simple line of dialogue, “Live Long and Prosper.” His use of what came to be known as the Vulcan salute came at a time of war, uncertainty, great societal upheaval, and injustice gripping the world that is not so different from where we find ourselves today.
This greeting is now known around the world as a simple, solemn, and heartfelt wish for good fortune and compassion in an often- unforgiving world. As has Leonard’s portrayal of Spock, the salute transcends time, cultures, and is a universal greeting available on every cell phone and computer across the globe. I’m honored to be connected with Leonard Nimoy and his legacy.
May we all Live Long and Prosper.
