Prehospital providers are more at risk because we have less control over the workload we experience and we formulate memories that associate unpleasant cases with particular locations we may regularly revisit.

Very important reminder: hypothermia is a big killer in severe burns. Local cooling with running water is effective for outcome, but burns patients loose thermoregulation, so keep warm. Dr Stiles at #ltc2024

Nice reminder for what to focus on in pre-burn centre care (aka prehospital). From Dr Stiles at #ltc2024

Caution interpreting data showing many pts intubated for burns were extubated within 24-48h - this does NOT mean intubation was inappropriate or unnecessary. There are other factors beyond the burn itself informing the decision to intubate in the prehospital environment.
