Little Witch Academia fancomic. Alt Text by @witchpunkleha.bsky.social [Panel 1] Diana hesitates. “I… I haven’t decided yet.” She didn’t think about it, the situation with her aunt was her priority and it feels wrong to her to pursue love in the state of things. [Panel 2] Andrew tries to get her to act on it. “You worry too much. You two already saved the world together, remember ? How hard could this be in comparison” He reassures her, waving his hand as if he was belittling her internal dilemma. [Panel 3] She smiles. “It was all her, I just helped her get there.”

[Panel 4] Andrew jumps on the occasion, and pointing in her direction, he continues her line of thought. “Exactly. And that’s why it could never work between us.” [Panel 5] With an uncomfortable grin he looks away, suddenly touched by his own words. “I’m too cynical.” [Panel 6] “She needs someone like you.” Diana doesn’t know how to react to Andrew; when did he become so … sincere ? Dealing with him when he was all backstabs and annoyances was easier, but now, he doesn’t get on her nerves like he used to.

[Panel 7] “Someone who is willing to fly into space alongside her.” Andrew finishes, and gives back the credit Diana herself won’t accept. The memory of the two of them on the Shooting Star, as the Shiny Rod dispersed itself back into the magic of the world, surfaces to Diana. Akko looked with a bittersweet expression at the sparkles of her wand leaving them, and Diana was already looking at her. Perhaps this feeling has a greater importance than she wanted to let herself know.

[Panel 8] “Dianaaaaaaaaa !” Akko suddenly jumps onto her, yelling in distress. [Panel 9] She latches herself onto her, crossing her arms around her neck, Diana by reflex reaches for her too, even if she is perturbed right now. “You’re the smartest witch I know :” Akko starts, as Diana is hanging on her every word, waiting for the end of this sentence like she never did before in her life. [Panel 10] Akko gets herself to Diana’s level, with a determined look she stares right into her eyes, Diana doesn’t move, she is frozen by the whole sequence of events, and she finally delivers : “Biscuits, scones or crumpets ?” …Excuse me ?

[Panel 2] Turning his back against the rock barrier, he continues “Though I won’t deny it, the thought did cross my mind.” Diana listens silently, still gazing at the lake melancholically.

[Panel 3] “But…” Memories flash before him, of when he met Akko and her antics at the party organized for his father by Luna Nova, when they sneaked around with these stupid ears she cursed them with… [Panel 4] Of meeting her again, this time at his birthday party, when she pep talked him into reconsidering his dreams… [Panel 5] When he saw her again, so determined to fight and save magic, using that strange wand that had been lended to her. “...it’s been a long time since I understood it wouldn’t happen.”

[Panel 6] Akko’s wide smile and her sparkling eyes… Andrew and Diana both know that there is so much depth hidden behind them; Akko has changed so much in just one school year. And so, the both of them did too; in their own distinct ways, they all grew up a lot, but Andrew feels like he has much more reflecting to do to reach them on an equal footing.

[Panel 7] “Andrew…” Diana turns around. He, on his part, seems satisfied. [Panel 8] “Are you planning on doing something about it ?” He sincerely asks her, with a smile.

Turns out he WAS into her at some point, but not anymore? How could he not? Akko is amazing and these 2 rich, aristocratic teenagers seem to have a type?

H-How did–?” She is visibly panicked, her biggest secret uncovered, how could she let it happen ? What if he spilled the beans ?! [Panel 2] Andrew is… also shocked. He didn’t expect her to outright panic like this, he thought she would just give him the fun story ! “I… didn’t. Until now. Really ?” He tries to calm things down. [Panel 3] Diana is depressed, she slouches and leans over the bricks, mumbling to herself. “Why don’t I just drown in the lake ?”

[Panel 4] His joke may have packed too much punch, but Andrew can’t refrain himself from a loud laugh after Diana’s comment. “Haha ! Don’t be so dramatic !” Diana hides her face in her arms and rests on the railing, like Akko told her she preferred to stay friends. [Panel 5] He gives a cheerful nudge to the “heartbroken” witch. “Why are you so affected by it ?” [Panel 6] She raises her head, still upset, and won’t look at him, but she does answer. “It’s something I would like to keep private, thank you very much.” [Panel 7] “Oh, yes. Fantastic job you’re doing– Seriously Diana, with the way you keep looking at her, I’m surprised my father didn’t notice.” He replies with his usual smugness, and a tad of lighthearted humor to make her feel better.

[Panel 8] “Hey, it’s not a big deal. So you have a crush, congratulations on having emotions.” Too cynical again, Andrew. [Panel 9] Diana is obviously mad at him. She crosses her arms, glaring at him. “You’re one to talk. Did you resume your piano lessons or are those emotions too genuine ?” [Panel 10] He shrugs, and brags a little. “In fact, I have.”

[Panel 11] “And I do understand you, she’s charming, in every way of the word.” He bluntly comments, as they look at Akko in the middle of her charming magic antics, morphing her mouth for a duck’s beak, Frank in tears from laughter. [Panel 12] “So you too have feelings for her.” Diana mumbles, seemingly… defeated.

Wow, Diana sure made that easy. Not that it was hard to notice at all. But now y'all can see why Akko is so popular with the aristocracy.

[Panel 1] Andrew seriously replies to Akko, his arms crossed. “It’s mutual. Especially Diana’s horses, they don’t like me at all.” Akko is both baffled and repulsed “Brego’s a sweetheart, he must have a good reason.” Diana is quite proud of her horse at that. [Panel 2] “Akko, Akko ! You must see this !” Frank shouts from the balcony, she is instantly distracted and stares at him with interest. [Panel 3] Excited like always, Frank did not even bother to look away from the lake, absorbed in something. “Look ! There’s ducklings !” The little featherballs must be really cute to get him going like this. [Panel 4] In typical Akko fashion, she must see this and with a loud “ほ!” [Ho!], she forgets about her current companions and rushes to check the babies.

[Panel 5] Andrew is not letting Diana join in on the fun though, and starts back their previous conversation. “It’s the most fun I’ve had at your house.” He jests, happy to ready his trap again. [Panel 6] “I’m glad we’ve been able to entertain you, despite the near downfall of my House.” Hook, line and sinker once again, although Diana is quite on edge and tired of his game. [Panel 7] “Hey, relax a little. I was just joking. You’ve been particularly sharp today.” Andrew says, trying to calm things down, but Diana is still visibly mad at him.

[Panel 8] She sighs, a deep breath to help calm down. “You’re right.” She admits, her eyes closed, facing the sky to let the wind run a little over her and cool her anger down. [Panel 9] “You were of help with that fiasco with my family, and you shouldn’t have even been involved. I’ve been somewhat irritable, haven’t I ?” She finally acknowledges.

[Panel 10] “I get it.” Andrew wins this round once again, he makes his stupid <<I am so good at this>> smug grin and delivers the final blow. “If I were spending the summer with my crush and was not to do anything about it, I too would be a little touchy.” What. Did. He. Say ?! Diana is mortified. Obliterated by his last few sentences, her face turns redder in embarrassment than she ever did in her life, surely she would remember something as humiliating as having been played like a fiddle by Andrew of all people too ! But for him, this is just tonight’s hors d’oeuvres.

[Panel 2] “SUMMER BREAK !” shout Akko and Frank with their arms raised, probably scaring away a few of the lake’s ducks away in the process of exteriorizing their repressed excitement. “Heh. Finally someone who can match Frank’s energy. I’ve been struggling to find activities to keep him entertained.” “Is that so.” Diana doesn’t react to his jest.

[Panel 3] He turns to the side and grabs the railing. “What a surprise finding Akko here with you.” [Panel 4] “Bigger a surprise than when my father agreed to come here again. But I guess fighting a missile counts as a bonding experience. Right ?” He keeps going, knowing Diana would escape his chatter and head straight for Akko if he stopped talking for a minute. He wants a one on one talk and he knows she won’t ignore him out of courtesy. “Yes, I suppose it is.” Bingo, she (unenthusiastically) took the bait, now she’s stuck with him.

[Panel 5] Andrew hoped he’d get under her skin, her answer is unfortunately quite … boring, and his face betrays how disappointed he is. [Panel 6] He’s not going to stop after one failure anyway, got the whole dinner ahead of him to tease her ! “It’s funny though, it never seemed to me that Akko and you were friends before, but every time I see either of you, the other is around.” Seems like Diana doesn’t want to give him away what he wants, she, quite annoyed, plainly replies “You are correct. We didn’t use to be friends, but our relationship has changed.” [Panel 7] “Oh ?” He smirks, sounds like “relationship” was a bad and quite interpretative word to use here and that Andrew is very interested in the interpretation part.

[Panel 8] Akko jumps out of nowhere in-between them, throwing her arm around Diana’s shoulder. This makes her blush from the unexpected appearance and familiarity, like always when it comes to Akko. “Hey, Diana ? Maybe we can go ride the horses for a while. What’cha say ?” She tries to convince her friend, and it sounds like she and Frank already planned some activities on their own. [Panel 9] But Andrew doesn’t want to let Diana get away without giving him all the crusty details. “Absolutely not. Animals and I don’t get along at all.” “Whaat ? Only creepy people don’t like animals.” Akko stares at him, disgusted and disappointed.

[Panel 2] “Diana ! Good to see you. I’m glad to see you two together –again” He adds to his salutations, amused by the “coincidence”. “Well, this time I was invited. So there was no reason for you to pick me up, ha !” Akko responds, posing with her arms crossed, proud of her little punchline, she likes to be a show-woman in front of Diana, who quite needs the distraction tonight anyway. [Panel 3] Unfortunately for her, Andrew is not quite as good of a public as Diana, and the joke is lost on him. He seems confused but maybe for other reasons.

[Panel 4] Suddenly Paul leaves Daryl’s side to join the youngsters. “Oh, Lady Cavendish. I’m glad you are all here.” He starts, with a smile on top of that. Unusual from him. [Panel 5] He grabs his son by the shoulder, which, even for Andrew, is a new side to him. “I do need to apologise for leaving so abruptly last time. It was rude and inconsiderate, and it was just because I did not understand the importance witches bring to the world. Thanks to Andrew, I know better now.” Sincere apologies from Paul Hanbridge ? He really had a change of heart it seems, Andrew is quite embarrassed by the praise too.

[Panel 6] All the witches in the room stare blankly at him, completely stunned by his sudden excuses. [Panel 7] Diana and Akko look at each other, searching for the other’s answer in her eyes. They’re on the same wavelength, this is a pleasant surprise to them. [Panel 8] Akko decides to voice it herself. “That’s awesome !” She answers, sparkling from excitement.

[Panel 9] “Magic is fantastic. I’m glad more people can appreciate it now.” She earnestly smiles with her whole being. [Panel 10] Diana is absolutely smitten by the sight of this smiling dork, and that doesn’t go unnoticed, Andrew reads her like an open book, it’s going to be fun to watch tonight. [Panel 11] Anna interrupts the group’s discussion. “Excuse me, refreshments will be ready in a short while in the solarium. Please wait a little longer.”
