The image shows a large elongated lake completely frozen over. The shape of the lake has a vague resemblance to the contour of Great Britain. The lake borders on a mountainous range to the south of it, at bottom of this image. There is snow on the crest of the range. Numerous gullies are visible on the north flank of the range. Because of sunglint the frozen lake, and also a small one at top in the image, looks whiteish. Normally the ice on most of the lakes in Tibet look all kinds of blue, as do the lakes also during the remainder of the year, without ice.
