Rather than depict it in literal terms, I chose to explore its energy through abstraction: tangled lines, burning hues, and chaotic structures that suggest both creation and collapse. Drawn from a place of deep observation and emotional resonance, this landscape is layered with contradiction. It is both beautiful and brutal—alive with industry, yet ghosted by human cost. The white skeletal forms and frenetic mark-making speak to the grind of labour, the fragmentation of place, and the strange poetry that can arise from machinery and smoke. The group, made up of Polish and Romanian Eastern Europeans, were social media-savvy travelers. It turned into one of the best camping nights I’ve ever had, surrounded by strangers who I never met again, but the adventure remains unforgettable.
