One really great exercise from #LeavingtheFold (a few have been too... Meditational for me) is referring to the negative/intrusive thoughts and anxiety-based thoughts as an "idea monster."
I'm jotting down negative feelings and realizing most come from a #Christan upbringing. How interesting.
Been doing a bit more #fundamnetalist #Chrustiantiy decoupling with #leavingthefold and I really appreciate how the author also acknowledges the awareness that those raised in it possess. We do retain moral systems while breaking free from the oppression of an absolute dogma. Powerful stuff to me.
I've been thinking a lot about manipulation devices after yesterday's reading from #LeavingTheFold, and I hate to say it, but I've spent a lot of time ruminating over it. There is a lot to unpack.
The #LeftBehind books had me in a chokehold, but it was one of the few series sanctioned as readable.
Currently, I'm reading #leavingthefold by Marlene Winell, and just the first 15 pages alone were enough to send my mind into a 5-alarm alert. Currently buried in chapter 3, the second chapter's exercises, including the essay to your younger self was particularly eye-opening.
