Much like 75% of the things I encounter in Grimrock, I have no clue what these tentacle faced things are. I’m gonna call them all manner of things, but “OH GOD IT LIT MY FACE ON FIRE” seems like an appropriate response to them.

Delving deeper we come to level 10. Which is something of a continuation from the previous level cause it, too, is a temple. Apparently. Could have fooled me with how all these chambers are filled with traps and pits.

A couple more nasty enemies make their appearance, but the worst of these puzzles pops their head in the form of the Pillared Hallway. BTW, we HAVE the answer to this hallway. From two levels ago. And I STILL needed to look it up.

This area is FILLED with those acid flinging slimes!! And they can be a right pain to suffer through. But they bring me less agony than the pit traps and the weird switch puzzle that’s meant to trick you.

There is little in the way of a “good” way of doing this puzzle without just knowing it off hand. It’s 1 part brute force and 4 parts poor visibility with a dash of “oh god, I hope this works.” And we NEED to do this for the key!

There is something to be said about these puzzles. You might have figured them out but you’ll still get a fireball to the face with a lot of them. Then there are others were you’d just zoomed through several places at once. And then get acid to the face.

Grimrock continues to pull some nasty surprises on me. Namely releasing monsters from closets as well as introduce the mighty, all powerful crab enemies. At least we’re getting more of these Iron Doors open.

There is something that feels real good with some of these puzzles. Some are easily brute forced while others are so easy, it’s like playing hopscotch. Then there are the portal related puzzles, like the Not A Black Out puzzle that takes me a while…

Each of these floors has an iron door to it with secrets And I want them all. Weather I’m smart enough to open them though, well, that’s answered along with “am I smart enough to get over this timed pit puzzle?”

After a few more armored skeleton legionnaires, it’s down to the next level, where now we’re facing off against massive hecking spiders! Now, again, I don’t have a problem with spiders, but I do when they are at a size where they can bite off my head.
