Peter Vodosek: Peter Vodosek reviews Volume 4, Part 1 of the multivolume series Geschichte des deutschen Buchhandels, which covers the Western occupation zones and the reestablishment of the book trade between 1945 and 1949. Featuring archival-based studies, the volume analyzes Allied cultural policies, institutional rebuilding, and the varied strategies of the American, British, and French authorities. Central figures like Douglas Waples and Alfred Döblin underscore the intellectual engagement in cultural reconstruction.
