Protip: GTK can do hardware video acceleration using V4L2 on e.g. #Librem5, but only if you let it.
Adding "--device=all" to overrides lets it be used in #Flatpak apps that don't specify it in their permissions already, such as #Tuba.

If you happen to maintain a distro that runs on the #Librem5, then please be aware that all the known issues resulting in the modem dropping out from the USB bus have been resolved *years ago* already. This shouldn't happen even with runtime power management enabled if configured properly.
If […]
The #Librem5 has properly detected chargers using BC1.2, Type-C and PD signaling for years now, but it struggled with sources that couldn't actually provide the advertised current (which could happen with buggy chargers/docks, broken or poorly made cables etc.). It would attempt to draw power […]

NXP has published their 6.18-based kernel tree and while browsing it I have noticed that they apparently found a way to support custom horizontal strides with mxsfb (by using some undocumented leftover IP for EPDC panels that imx8mq doesn't support). This may be interesting as it potentially […]
It's funny how this phone keeps feeling faster as it gets older.
Looks like GTK is starting to get its renderer inefficiencies sorted out, as updating Flatpak runtimes has made Tuba smoother than ever 😄 #librem5

I put a used Librem 5 up for sale on Ebay. You get the phone, original box, second battery, and a charging cable. Ships to Canada and the USA.

There are two NMEA sources on #librem5 with #mobian: one is from modem manager and one from /dev/gnss0. gnss0 is actually useful positioning source. The other one is just causing confusion.
Autofocus with #libcamera is fun. You are attempting to tune AF to do something, and while doing that you realize that a) AE does not really work, and b) there's memory leak of GPU memory or something, so if you keep playing with focus for too long, system is hosed in a way application restart […]
I couldn't make any sense out of these #librem5 logs so I yielded to a developer higher in seniority who is now carefully analyzing the issue. #catsofmastodon

Turns out it's not going to work - but I now at least understand why 😂

Warning to #Librem5 users. Due to a [downstream kernel
patch](https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux/-/issues/514 automatic brightness can go to too low values resulting in a black screen. You can work around that by setting the `PHOSH_DEBUG=backlight-non-linear` in your environment until this is […]
Automatic brightness can now be toggled from the top panel and when enabled the brightness slider acts as an offset to the current brightness value. We also reworked how it is handled internally taking e.g. the brightness scale exported
by the kernel into account. There will be more fine tuning […]
