I’ll always remember you. Long after the constellations have drifted apart, and Altair and Vega are united in blooming supernova, I’ll remember you. I’ll remember your long breath after a bout of laughter, and I’ll remember your words when they’d flow as uninhibited and eternal as a cascading river. I’ll remember the rasp in your voice before you fell asleep, and I’ll remember the softness of your sighs when the silence settled. Time will pass, as it always has. From stardust we came; to stardust we shall return. But in the fleeting miracle of our coexistence, we found a love that will long outlive us both. Perhaps someday, we will come together to build a new planet. As blue as the sky, as green as your eyes. Perhaps we will be binary stars, dancing around one another as the universe expands around us. Whatever we become, I hope to stay by your side.

Wherever we go, however far the universe scatters our stardust, the love we found here will remain. When an asteroid passes, it will slow its advance to watch in awe. When a star is born, it will marvel at it. Our names will be forgotten, and this planet will freeze in the absence of our radiant sun, but deep beneath the ice, our love will remain.

It had been an age since he had spoken the name. It tasted like the first winter wind's whisper, brushing over his lips and flying out in a cloud of cool air. Like a flower that blossomed beneath the most frigid blizzard, the name beggared belief in its simplicity. As ephemeral and delicate as the wind, with the everlasting beauty of its whimsy. It was a wonder how he'd gone so long without saying it.

Woe betide he who sleeps beneath the sun and feels no warmth. It is a blinding reminder that the raging flames of a star are little more than a spark when faced with the gentle radiance of her presence. He shields his eyes, and in the shaded spots behind his eyelids, he seeks her smile, only to find her glaring at him once more. He cannot flee, not in blindness, nor in sight. She was his sun, and in her contempt, she had damned him to burn beneath the faded light of lesser stars.

"I could not bear to live in a world without you, and so l die with you. Such is our fate: to be born wretched, to love true, and to die unfulfilled. I have defied that fate. If I die in your arms, I die with naught left undone." "No... No, I won't allow it! I command you to flee! You are my knight, you must obey me!" "Then punish me for my treason, and let my sentence be death. Let your lips bear my poison, and let your embrace be my guillotine. Such is justice, and I have never known justice as sweet as this."

The craftsman is not one of those people. His words are few, and often calculated. Each sentence is a tiny box, perfectly crafted from the finest wood, with patterns carved into its crevices with precision. He whittles away specks only he can see, biting his lip in frustration at the unyielding material between his hands. He has trained his boxes to train him. When he selects a word that is unfit for his thought, the box seals itself and the wood refuses the knife. If he tries to speak, the words do not come. He must retire to his mind, wandering its avenues aimlessly until he finds that which he seeks. Upon his return, he finds the wood waiting patiently for him, ready to resume its creation with sentences suited perfectly to his need. At times, he will wrap his boxes in a delicate layer of silk that threatens to tear at the slightest breath; a gentle smile or an appreciative gaze to complement the precious relic he has built. Each utterance is a treasure to be earned, and is only given to those who know its worth.
