2020 Ganymed Spätburgunder Pinot Noir Auslese Großkarlbacher Burgweg 14.5% Lingenfelder Estate, Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany, aromatic wine, dark cherries, slight animating bitterness of cherry pits, a touch of plume, well balanced acidity which keeps the wine fresh and lilting despite its 14.5%. Goes very well with the meat balls.

Meat balls: minced meat (pork and beef), wood garlic, onion, egg, bulgur, salt and pepper.

I brown the meat balls in fat of a slice of pancetta, then simmer them in tomato sauce (canned tomatoes, chicken broth, oregano).
