Seal lookout at Litlibaer

The main outlook in the Westfjords for seals is at Litlibær along Route 61 near the historic farmhouse and cafe. We were lucky that the seals were quite playful.

The reconstructed turf house known as Litlibær is an example of a traditional Icelandic home.The name Litlibær means “small farm” and the original home was built here in the Westfjords in 1895. In 1910, two families consisting of a total of 22 people lived here.
