A.I.T.A.? Had a weird situation this morning. I'm peds and rounding in the nursery. We had a home birth in the middle of the night, and they brought the baby boy into the hospital right afterwards. Teen mom has her partner with her but paternity is up in the air. Since then, it has been a stream of weird visitors. First this inexplicably luminous individual who arrived singing, but couldn't produce an ID so we had to turn them away. Then these three old guys who said they were 'uncles' and asked security where to park their camels. Now somehow this little boy has snuck into the unit with a drum. We only found out when he started playing it and woke up all the other babies! I feel bad because his parents are nowhere to be seen and he said he walked here. But I can't have him keeping up that racket! Clearly this mom needs the support and all these visitors are so enthusiastic about the baby, but it's a little unsettling. Plus it's viral season and I don't want anyone bringing R.S.V. into the nursery. W.I.B.T.A. if I sent the kid away and said no more visitors?
