Arnisdale. The image shows a narrow road leading from the bottom right corner and curving round a bay with blue water and a stone shore. There is a scatter of buildings behind the road on the far side of the bay. Behind then are trees and then the ground climbs steeply to the rocky crest of a large mountain. The sky is blue save for two small puffs of white cloud.
Beautiful Arnisdale, which stands on the north shore of Loch Hourn and looks south-west over the loch to the mountains of the Knoydart peninsula. Rising behind it is Beinn Sgritheall. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

The magnificent view east towards Kintail from the Bealach Ratagain. The image shows a viewpoint indicator in the foreground and then the largely brown bracken-covered ground drops away steeply towards a loch. Beyond the loch are mountains rising in the haze. The scene is in sunlight.

#Dornie, late-1930s. The lorries were owned by William G. Finlay of Ardelve and were used during the construction of Dornie Bridge. The main contractor was William Tawse of Aberdeen, with local workers and vehicles subcontracted.

Dornie. The image shows a row of two storey buildings extending from near the camera on the right to further away on the left. Most are white or light coloured. A white gable end in the centre of the frame carries the name of the Dornie Hotel, beyond a low stone wall that cuts across the picture. In the background are hills covered in brown vegetation. The sky is blue.
Attractive Dornie in Lochalsh, now bypassed by the main road and best known for neighbouring Eilean Donan Castle, but once a terminus for ferries crossing Loch Long and Loch Duich. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...
